Matt and Shelley at Glen Lodge

Matt and Shelley had planned their day at the stunning Glen Lodge at Bawburgh Gold Club, all while we were still locked up in lockdown. (Thumbs down Covid)

Beautiful Glen Lodge

The morning was bright and all was looking well for the wedding ceremony outside, or so it seemed! The very helpful staff at Glen Lodge had been keeping an eager eye on the weather. They anticipated that the ceremony might be rained off if they didn’t move it inside. A little sad, but determined not to let it dampen her day, Shelley and her bridal party busily prepped. It was serene and everyone was getting ready.

Lacey headed off to the venue to catch up with Matt and the groomsmen and capture the guests arriving. Meanwhile, Sally stayed with Shelley to capture those very important dress and first look photos. When Lacey arrived at the venue – Very noticeably hung in the dining area were photo garlands of some super incriminating childhood photos of Matt and Shelley! One of the groom not looking too dissimilar to Jay from the Inbetweeners. (I’ll let you lot debate that!)

The boys and the best lady (cool right?) were laughing and joking and had pointed out to Lacey that there was something very unique about Matt’s bow tie! It had been hurriedly purchased after one of the best men misplaced the original! Not only this but two of them were sharing a pocket square! Literally cut in half and divided between them, these lot set the tone for the day.

The guests arrived and whilst being ushered to their seats enjoyed a classical guitarist whilst awaiting the arrival of the bride. Matt and his best man Danny excitedly greeted guests and got everyone seated. The ceremony room in Glen Lodge is stunning, a natural stone wall, with LED lights highlight those high ceilings and the beautiful triangular shaped windows you’ll see in the photos below. Shelley literally glided into the room, she looked breathtaking, super smiley on her dads arm and looking very pleased to see her soon to be husband.

It didn’t rain – it poured down!

The venue looked beautiful and was just as lovely as the pavilion outside. Vows were exchanged and kisses were shared! It was time to strut down the aisle. We had just enough time for a couple of photos, confetti shots and a couple of family photos before the heavens absolutely opened. It poured and poured and poured.
Not long after, everyone was seated and it was time for speeches – We will tell you now we haven’t laughed so much in such a long time between childhood anecdotes and the arrival of Harry the stag do stowaway, the room roared with laughter!

We made a quick, crazy dash to the golf course for those all important couples shots. The light was gone quickly but we bagged a gorgeous set of images that we were so excited to show Matt and Shelley. It was time to drive our buggies back to the venue for a well deserved party!

Shelley’s maid of honour and sister Jenna, made the most incredible catch for the bouquet! Seriously, we wish there were sport replays for bouquet tosses, it was killer. It was time to get everyone on the dance floor and the party just flowed! It was so sad when it was time to head home, we had genuinely felt so welcomed and so at home with this lovely lot!
Have a look at some cheeky peeks of Matt and Shelleys fabulous day, with a special thanks to these wonderful suppliers:

Wedding Album Options

Although a Wedding album is not included in our package, we can produce one for you and we recently joined forces with a new supplier!

We were incredibly excited when this album arrived. Over the course of this year whilst weddings have been delayed we have been working hard on developing our branding. This album is a little bit of us.

The linen and white leather cover and box are a nice reflection of our style and they really don’t disappoint. This album is also completely customisable. The cover can be linen, leather, hardcover photo printed or even have an acrylic cover if you want something flashy. Even the size can be customised. You can go REALLY BIG and have lots of photos or you can scale down to suit a tighter budget.

The Quality.

We were so impressed with the quality of this wedding album. The printing is absolutely beautiful and so sharp. This is really important to us as it’s one of our photography goals for each wedding. We want to produce images that are sharp and clear and that should be reflected in the printing process too. The colour representation is spot on and the binding is fantastic quality.

We really cannot praise this wedding album enough and we are looking forward to designing these for all our couples who want to have an album. Here are a few images.

If you are interested in organising a wedding album please get in touch for more details on the pricing and customisable options. We would love to produce an album that really tells the story of your wedding day.

Organising your Wedding Seating Plan

Wedding seating plans can be a massive headache so we wanted to investigate what makes for a good plan! Many of your guests will be anxiously awaiting to see who they’re paired with on the table plan. What if I’m sat with strangers? What if I’m sat with auntie Deb and she gets trashed? The struggle is real, but the final decision is in your hands!

*exciting pause*

Before you start drawing out your wedding seating plan and putting sticky tabs everywhere, what’s your meal plan like? If you have a buffet style wedding plan, you might be able to chuck the plan altogether and say “we’re all family now, so take a seat not a side” and let that be done. Oh the simplicity… it’s music to our ears.

However, if you have a meal and courses scheduled, listen up because this might just give you some inspiration.

The Top Table

The top table can be pretty stressful but it’s a great place to start. It can be tricky though, especially if your parents are split and don’t talk or you have an ENORMOUS wedding party. Placing people can be so difficult. A lot of couples are opting for sweetheart tables now as it gives you a small bit of privacy. The tables allow you and your new wife/husband to sit together and watch everyone and chat about the day so far. It can be super intimate and romantic.

If you want to go totally traditional, keep it as your parents (if they’re separated on bad terms, mix the pairings) your best man, maid of honour and your kiddos if you have any. You could always have a small direct table adjacent to the top for your children if it’s looking a little packed.

You can make it super fun with lots of drawing packs and table games for them, they won’t even miss the grown up table!

Seating Guests

Family dynamics are difficult aren’t they? No matter how tight nit your family is, there’s always a strange uncle or that cousin that likes to get a little too wild… Let it be known that you are not alone. These people are hard to place and hard to cater for.

We say keep it simple. Put people together with people they know, it’s the simplest way to make sure everyone has a good time and ensures beautiful smiley photos, instead of awkward grins. We’re big fans of chucking in wild cards too, those chatty friends of yours? Don’t be scared to chuck them in with your auntie and uncle. People who draw out conversation will genuinely do this anywhere and they’ll be more likely to make the effort for your wedding.

If you do have odd singles who you find difficult to place – put them with people of a similar age group or with people you know have similar interests. Sometimes these people really respond well to ice breaker cards and it may serve you well to have a couple dotted around the tables.  We liked these ice breakers from Etsy.

Get people talking about the mundane and they will surprise you!

If there are some family feuds that are unresolved many of our couples have placed the offending parties at opposite sides of the room. They have then used the middle section of the room to seat neutral friends and act as a friendly barrier! It sounds crazy but it’s genuinely something we have seen.

Table names or numbers?

Some people are just totally down for table numbers and that’s fine. If however, you want that extra bit of personal thrown in at your weddings – maybe you could do your favourite book titles or the places you’ve both visited, complete with cheeky holiday snaps! Your guests will love looking around at these and they make for beautiful decor pictures.

We’ve had people organise their tables by football teams and even bench marks in their relationships. When it comes to your table plans anything goes. One of our previous couples, Amy and Josh went with relationship bench marks for their table names, it was so personal and worked really well. If you want to check it out, here’s the blog ✨

If you’re stuck on ideas for how to create your wedding seating plan we recommend looking at Etsy. They have some gorgeous DIY printable seating plans that aren’t too expensive. Alternatively, depending on the company you used for your invitations, they may also be able to quote you for this. This ensures that all your stationary is consistent. One of our couples used their stationary company Frog and Pencil and their table plan was so beautiful.

When to start planning⚡️

You can never start planning your wedding seating plan too early! Seriously, take it from a girl who only remembered a week and a half before her wedding that people needed somewhere to sit… oh the agony!! Once final numbers are confirmed, hit that planning hard!

Special catering requirements

Make sure any people with special requirements are catered for and clearly marked for staff before the day. My husbands cousin is severely autistic and he was sure as heck certain he was not eating our hog roast. He wanted pizza and we made sure he got his wish. We even asked them to slightly charcoal it, just the way he likes. You’re welcome Bob, we love ya! If your nan struggles to move through crowds, make sure she’s at a table with great access to the bathroom and the bar! (Most importantly the bar right?).

Feeding Vendors

Are you feeding your vendors? If so – first up, love you! We really appreciate you thinking of us and seriously who doesn’t love wedding food? It might be worth asking if they’d like to sit in the bar (which is the norm) or with guests. Even when you know your photographers, sometimes there is nothing more daunting for your guests than having them at their table while they’re eating! Don’t worry guys we know nobody wants to see you with gravy down your chin. But some people see dinner as a bit of a respite from the hectic wedding day and we totally respect that. On the other hand, we’ve sat at tables with some cracking guests who’ve made us cry with laughter and by the end of the night they’ve become our pals. Just something to consider. Please don’t feel obliged to put us on a table though.

RSVP

Paper RSVPS are not for everyone. If I had a pound for every time someone said they hadn’t heard back from all their guests I’d be rich. Maybe consider online RSVP’s? We found With Joy offers a free service. Some wedding directories also have them. A simple tick, click and submit and you’ve got your answers. Save the paper for your older family members, they appreciate the tradition and the sentiment.

We hope that this has helped you out! Or at least given you a few pointers. Ultimately, just know it’s your day. So do it your way! If you come up with anymore ideas or have suggestions to make, feel free to contact us over on our page https://laceandlowephotography.co.uk/contact-us

Park Farm Hotel with Shannon and Tom

There is something so exciting and completely nerve wracking about shooting a wedding for someone you’ve known for a long time. You feel as though the expectation to deliver is at an all time high. There was no exception when shooting Mr and Mrs B’s wedding day at Park Farm Hotel.

We’ve known Shannon and her family for years and she is a proper character, full of smiles and banter! When we met Tom at one of our pre-wedding meet ups we knew these two were a match made in H-E-aven! These two knew what they wanted when they were looking for the right photographer.

The Perfect Day

We arrived at the stunning Park Farm Hotel in one of the suites to find the girls giggling away while they were getting glammed up. Shannon was in full swing with her sister Renee and her two bridesmaids Kelcey and Amy. They looked gorgeous thanks to the help of Kirstie and Lisa.

Dad met them there to whisk them away in the coolest camper van supplied by Confetti Campervans to the St Remigius just a stones throw away from the hotel.

The girls by this point were full of so much excitement! The priest did actually give them a little telling off for being so naughty outside the church, which made for some very funny pictures.

The ceremony was gorgeous and the church was just amazing, as you’ll see from the gallery it is in pristine condition.

After this it was back to the hotel for some couple and group shots and most importantly dinner and speeches. Everyone was in hysterics at Darrol’s Father of the Bride speech and there were so many references to Shannon being just as rambunctious back in her childhood as she is now! Stories were told, best men were thrown in the deep end and everyone jelled so well together – it was awesome to be apart of.

The Venue

The staff at the hotel very quickly served everyone and were so helpful. After the speeches, we nipped out for a couple of dreamy, golden hour shots and then it was party time.

Tom and Shannon were the life and soul of the party and they were none stop on the dance floor for the rest of our time there.  Two people, crazily in love, dancing the night away.

It’s safe to say we had the perfect day at Park Farm Hotel (https://www.parkfarm-hotel.co.uk ) and went away beaming. But it’s time to give credit where credit is due!

Finding the right wedding photographer

After booking their wedding venue, finding the right wedding photographer was the most important task for Josh and Amy. They had been dreaming about their day for such a long time and it was not a decision they wanted to rush into. Sally met with them to discuss the photography in December 2017. The wedding would be at the All Saints Hotel in Bury St Edmunds. At the time, it had just undergone a massive renovation project. It was a great improvement and we were really excited at the prospect of working in the new extension.

Why did they book us?

Josh and Amy loved the style of our images and liked the fact that we spend most of the day in the background catching those unseen moments. This was important as they wanted all those natural moments captured of their guests having fun. Capturing the candid shots is a massive part of what we do and also why having two of us works so well.

We also clicked personally which is massively important when you’re finding the right wedding photographer. We spent 10 hours with Josh and Amy over the course of their wedding day and we loved every moment! They had complete trust in us to produce a set of images that they were going to love. The fact that the 4 of us gelled so well made a huge difference to the photographs as Josh and Amy felt comfortable around us and naturally relaxed in front of the camera.

We like a good plan! Along with a plan B and a plan C!!

We like to be organised and plan ahead for the most important day of your life. We always meet with our couples about a month before the wedding to discuss the running order. At this point, a formal shot list of family members and friends is created too. Our aim is to keep the wedding day running on schedule so that everyone gets their meal on time! This was another reason that Josh and Amy felt confident we were the right photographers for them. They wanted someone who would get the job done whilst being kind and respectful to their guests. Equally important is that we work well with the team at the venue and ultimately have no personal agendas other than doing whats best for the bride and groom.

We love it when a good plan comes together

Everything went perfectly on the day, the venue exceeded our expectations and they were extremely helpful. The weather was beautiful and we fully utilised all the grounds! We couldn’t of had a more magical day! Josh made a lot of the decorations which you see in the images including the geometric cake stand! So much love went into this wedding.

All Saints is a Golf hotel and therefore access to the grounds on the course has to be arranged. We organised to go out during golden hour and utilise the beautiful willow trees which Amy loved. This was pre planned and we made sure it happened! Josh and Amy are in love with their gallery and so are we….

Choosing a wedding photographer

So you’re choosing a wedding photographer? Why not choose two?

You’ve popped the question, the date is set, the details are coming together – so what now? That’s right, you need to decide on the photographer. The search in itself, can be a taxing task with so much talent spread across a small area. So why would you choose two photographers?

This is why we think it’s important when choosing a wedding photographer.

First and foremost, we are a team. We will work together seamlessly in the background to make sure your day is documented in the most detailed way without taking away from it. Our job is to narrate one of the most important stories of your life. We don’t want you to feel like we are constantly intercepting or peering over your shoulder. It’s easy as a photographer to become sucked into the idealism of what you want each of your weddings to look like, but it is important to grasp that although we may do this hundreds of times – Your wedding day, will only happen once. You will only live these moments once, so we wouldn’t want to take that away from you.

The saying goes, there are always two sides to every story. Two different perspectives and a different tale to tell. Together, we aim to capture the details that the other cannot capture or might not have seen. I.E – one of us will usually be at the front of the venue capturing you gliding down the aisle, with your dad in hand to walk you to your husband to be. The other one of us will stay back and capture the detail of the back of the most stunning dress you’ll own and all your guests smiling at you making your way down.

Our Style

Our style is a mix of artistic documentary and lifestyle. We capture those moments you may not see – nan and grandad tearing up as you walk to your future husband or wife, the naughty page boy collecting up petals to throw at unsuspecting guests and those moments of pure joy and laughter that your guests will experience in the heat of the day. We’ll then whip you off in small pockets of the day to compose beautiful, natural portraits of you both that you will look back on and love for years to come.

In essence, we are just two girls who genuinely believe in the constitution of marriage and it’s place in society. We are dedicated to enabling you to re-tell your special day for years to come in the most beautiful way.

We’ll invest 100% in your day with you, whilst having a laugh along the way! Whether it’s dancing on the pier, splashing in puddles or cuddled up in a cosy corner.
If you’re choosing a wedding photographer and we sound like a little bit of you, then ping us a quick message, we’d love to hear from you!

Here are some of our favourite shots from a wedding at Park Farm Hotel. We hope you enjoy them.
