We kicked off July with the most epic wedding at Suffolk Barn!

Saffron and Ollie booked their wedding with us back in March 2021 and over the last couple of years we’ve thoroughly enjoyed getting to know them. We photographed an adventure shoot for them early on, which was so much fun and definitely helped us get a feel for them as a family. Then, as we always endeavour to with our couples, we kept in touch on socials so by the time they came to the final client meeting it really was like meeting up with old friends. They joined us at the studio where we went through scheduling and also helped them plan their formal family shots.

We could tell from the meeting that we were going to be in our element. Suffolk Barn is no stranger to us and we were already looking forward to working there again but hearing their wedding plans made it all the more exciting.

Like many couples this year, Saf and Ollie were opting out of a few wedding traditions which always gets our support!

Suffolk Barn Wedding - Bury St Edmunds Wedding Venue

When we arrived on the wedding day at Suffolk Barn, in the final throws of morning prep, the atmosphere was full of anticipation but remarkably calm. As Saf made her way down the guest house stairs there were tears all round. Her dress was phenomenal and couldn’t have been more perfectly suited to her.

We made our way to the barn and the ceremony was soon underway. The kids did steal the limelight with their petal throwing antics up the aisle but Ollie’s face when he watched Saffron walking down to stand with him was priceless and as she reached him he was so enamoured he couldn’t resist a cheeky kiss before the formalities began! We thought this was super cute and although some might consider it untraditional - we felt it showcased their undeniable chemistry and gave each other a confidence boost! We say yes to more kisses at the end of the aisle!

The ceremony was filled with giggles as the children continued to frolic with their petals and it made for a lovely relaxed atmosphere that seemed fitting of Ollie and Saffron.

Fun Wedding Photography

Once all the formalities were complete, guests made their way outside and got ready for the best confetti runway we have ever photographed! Coupled with the wind, it was the most magical confetti we’ve ever seen! It was beautifully bright and bold and for several minutes after being thrown, it continued to swirl around the barn and guests like a stunning real life snow globe.

We let the happy couple mingle with their guests and captured lots of candids before we dealt with the family photos. We had plenty of time in the afternoon and kept it as relaxed as possible given that it was full sun and rather hot. Much to everyone's delight, dinner was being served from the incredible What The Peck food vendors. Their buttermilk chicken burgers were to die for. We devoured ours as did all Saf and Ollie's guests and we hope we see them again soon!

I think we laughed so much throughout the afternoon and into the evening - the guests were on fine form - dancing away and enjoying every last second of the wedding. Saffron and her Mum gave speeches along side Ollie and his best man. All the speeches were highly amusing but Saffron’s speech was heartfelt and stirred lots of emotions! When we ushered them out for their couples portraits in the early evening we could barely keep a straight face with Ollie’s hilarious antics. We think the quote "Couples who laugh together, last together" is very applicable to Saffron and Ollie, it was so clear that they never stop having fun!

It’s safe to say that their wedding at Suffolk Barn was unforgettable. It was full of so much love and joy and we felt sad to leave! Though we did get to enjoy their epic pizza buffet before we left. Saffron was rather taken with an asparagus pizza and did her best to cajole every possible guest into eating it - including us! It was actually surprisingly delicious! Who knew asparagus and pizza could go so well together!

It's always so special when we get to leave wedding days as friends of the couple, we are well and truly spoilt by them! Suffolk Barn is an absolutely fantastic venue and we highly recommend looking at it for your wedding day. Need more convincing? Have a look at Ollie and Saf's highlights.
