This summer we were so excited to be back at Blackthorpe Barn for another awesome wedding! It is such a beautiful venue and this wedding happened to fall on one of the hottest days of the summer so far. It was an absolute scorcher. If you are looking for a wedding venue in Suffolk we think this barn is worthy of making the list. We are sharing Kelly and Stephen's day and hope it inspires you!

Bridal Prep at Blackthorpe Barn

The girls stayed overnight and got ready in the cottage which is one of the huge perks of this venue. It's spacious and lavish and remained relatively cool throughout the morning, providing much needed respite from the heat. As make up and hair was in full swing in the living room, the atmosphere remained incredibly calm. We got some absolutely adorable shots of Kelly and Stephen's daughter with THE dress and we were all in hysterics as she sassily stepped into her Mum's heels. She was so excited to be a part of the wedding and had so much fun throughout the morning, accompanied by her cousin.

The cottage has a beautiful dining area and the family stopped preparations to have lunch together in the form of a pre packed cream tea. It was utterly divine and such a great idea to tide everyone over until the wedding breakfast.

As time ticked by Kelly was finally stepping into her dress and everyone was starry eyed as she descended down the staircase to her Dad, ready for him to walk her down the aisle.

Suffolk Wedding Venue that Allows Outdoor Wedding Ceremonies

Blackthorpe Barn is one of the few venues that can have wedding ceremonies outside as it holds the appropriate licence. Kelly and Stephen were taking full advantage of this and guests soaked up the glorious sun as they waited in earnest for her arrival. As Kelly made her way down the aisle - Stephen definitely had a few tears in his eyes. It was nothing to do with the bright sun making him squint!

After the ceremony, once the happy couple had said their I do's and exited with a very romantic dip down the aisle, everyone was pretty cooked and headed inside for drinks and canapés. Only the brave stayed outside! We hunted down some shade for family photos and took a moment for some portraits of the couple before dinner. The wedding breakfast room looked utterly sensational. With the fairy lights and the way Kelly and Stephen had planned the tables, it really was spectacular. The very flexible space in the barn is another selling point for Blackthorpe Barn Weddings. There is plenty of room for a large gathering both inside and out and the rustic interior is ultra romantic.

Wedding Photography that Captures the Story

Dinner and speeches complete, Kelly had a little surprise up her sleeve and we headed back to the cottage for a big group photo before she sneaked inside to have a hair cut before the evening began! No one has ever been that bold before but she most definitely pulled it off! After several inches of her long locks were swept away she was fresh and ready to join her groom for more portraits. He was quite surprised when he realised she'd been sneakily having it cut but definitely a fan of her new do. There are plenty of beautiful spots for portraits which we took advantage of in the cooler evening air.

Then, as if the bold new hair cut wasn't enough to wow the guests, Kelly and Stephen stepped onto the dance floor for their first dance and had everyone captivated with their beautifully choreographed performance.

We will always be happy to shoot weddings at Blackthorpe Barn and this was no exception, it was an absolutely magical day. Congratulations Kelly and Stephen.
