Do I Need Two Photographers at my Wedding?

Well obviously we'll tell you of course you do! Because we're fabulous!

But on a serious note, not everyone will want or need two photographers at their wedding and that's totally fine. But if you are contemplating why two photographers would benefit you and your day, then read on dear readers!

Covering Both Sides of Prep

The morning of your wedding is such a core part of the day - It's filled with an electric buzz as you get together with the ones you love the most, to get ready for the day that you've spent months planning for. It's tradition that most photographers cover the bridal prep, as this is where most of the action is usually at. However, a lot of modern couples are now opting to have both sides of preparations covered. A lot of our previous couples have really enjoyed seeing what the others got up to on the wedding morning. It really fills out the story.

Our couples have also opted to give gifts on their wedding mornings, but are often not able to see the reactions of their fiancé/fiancee opening the presents. So having us both there to capture the reactions is really special.

Dual Coverage of the Ceremony

This is one of the main reasons that our couples book us! They want that dual perspective of their ceremony, usually the expressions one of them coming down the aisle and the other's reaction as they turn around and see them for the first time. It's also great to capture the ceremony from both angles, as we get to see and deliver so much more of an in depth picture of your I Do's!

What is the difference between hiring a team of photographers and a second shooter?

Most packages that you will see now will offer the option of a second shooter as an add on, making solo shooters flexible if they feel like your wedding day needs the additional attention. These second shooters will be hired acquaintances from a pool of colleagues, however they may not necessarily shoot in the main photographers style and are not always in the same remit of skill. As they are not always used to shooting together, you may find the main photographer keeping a watchful eye over their second shooter to ensure that all of the required shots are being taken.

Sally and I are so used to working in a team, we know how the other operates and what they will be capturing. Which gives us both total freedom to keep taking the shots that you really love. We train together, so we are both in the know about the techniques that we use. We know that we can rely on each other.

Teamwork Makes the Dream Work

Tried and tested method that works! We love working together and over our years of working together we know how to work seamlessly to ensure that we capture all the moments that matter the most. Our way of working means that we are able to get through group shots and your personal portraits more quickly. We know that you will want to be with the ones that you love the most on your day, so we work in short little pockets of time (unless you want to spend more time with us!) to capture those special shots of you both without taking up too much of your time.

You may be thinking "won't it be really distracting having two cameras pointing at us?" With most of our couples this seems to be the opposite, we very rarely shoot in the same area on your wedding day, we spend most of the time covering separate spaces to ensure that we are capturing everything as fully as we can. In situations where we do shoot in the same room like your ceremony or speeches, we find that we are less intrusive because we already have two angles covered, so we move a lot less than perhaps a solo shooter would.

Because we really are the best of mates we actually find it really easy to blend in with your wedding guests, as we naturally bounce off of each other. During the rare points that we spend with you together during your portrait sessions, we'll usually be talking with you both and having a laugh! We like to think that we're just off on an adventure with two very well dressed friends and we'll spend these pockets of time doing our best to make you comfortable.
